I was back at the lower dam area and found the heron again. I was only able to get a couple shots thru grass at first, then repositioned for a better composition. I suppose I got to close and he flew to the other side of the river. I went further downstream and waited a little bit until yep, he flew back to me haha!
He still laid low after he flew back and I went to taking pics of a great blue heron until he tried to sneak past me!
He wasn’t worried about me much and went back to hunting, naturally I tagged along …
Eureka!
This went on for a while as he shook and gave the eel some good head squeezes, with the eel slipping out occasionally. I didn’t stick around for the actual consumption … maybe next time :-)
