Low Tide at Medomak, Maine

Painted by Dr. Thomas Woolstone Dixon

This painting hangs on a wall in my house – a family favorite painted by my great-uncle Tom! The image itself is greater than 10,000 pixels wide and begged to be made into a 4k ken burns style video using final cut pro :-)

The property is in a community called Medomak, which is in the town of Bremen, ME.  The company that owns the property now is Community Shellfish. My sister contacted the company and received the following response.

“That is definitely our dock! It has a few “compositional adjustments” excluding the stone pier and placing the old house in the left closer to the water. Interestingly, though, he is probably standing on the deck of the Cora Cressy Schooner wreck which was intact at that time!!! That is pretty cool! You didn’t mention that he dated the painting but it makes sense! Please come visit us this summer!! I have put the links to our websites below which show many pics of the waterfront and I have attached a few pics as well.”

Here’s an interesting youtube video on the Cora Cressy Schooner…

Me with Uncle Tom and Sai, another great painter!
